44. Hoop

The sun is slanting,

canted toward a lean day

and tall grass is resting

against wind’s creamy support.

.

The soil is growing, consuming

carcasses of vegetable, generations

of animal gristle and fur 

falling apart.

.

The rock is one day thinner,

shedding.
