Those alluring storied scars, 

capable of loving beyond 

beauty’s easy camaraderie.  

I would not mind

losing one finger or two

the way some of my farming

friends have done.

37. Haying

Every day pastures ripen

calling scythes down

against their gold ankles,

making room for winter,

feed for the herds.
