26. The Cut

Today I told her

cut off four inches,

all the ends split

by rocky winds

of the hot sun of a summer

I no longer own.

Clean as a backfire

shot off between three story

brick buildings, the three

stories of desert were severed.

My hair swings free,

blunt cut and clean

as the season change.
